Spring 2011- Argos The Cause Of Champions

What is a Champion?  What does it mean to be a champion on and off the field?  What is the Champions’ cause?

Team Spirit Stories sets out this Spring to ask these questions as Coach Jason and the Scottsdale Argonauts officially kick off the 2011 NYS youth football season with it’s first all teams practice this Saturday, February 27th.  The Argos football club was established in 2004 when then rival coaches, Jason of the Mustangs and Ricardo of the Warriors, joined forces.  Both of them are the first to say that they never expected to be still standing today with what is arguably one of the finest  and oldest established NYS youth football clubs in the country.  With a legacy spanning 11 Spring and Fall seasons the Argos have earned  3 State Championship Titles, 4 National Championship titles including back to back honors in 2009 and 2010 and 13 undefeated teams throughout the years, the Argos are clearly the team to beat and a formidable rival for any team in NYS.  Now in it’s 7th year, the club has attracted over 160 boys, making up 9 teams across Pee Wee, Midget, Minor and Major divisions.  According to the coaches, “From top to bottom this is one of the most talented groups of players we have ever had.”  GO ARGOS!  See you on the field

This past October, I had the honor and privelege of meeting a young highschool football player from Patrick Henry High School just outside of San Diego.  Darren was granted a wish through the Make A Wish Foundation as he battled through an ordeal with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma cancer.  A real champion that has inspired his school, his parents, his friends, his city, and points across the country with his wish to give brand new uniforms to his high school football team.  Darren’s passion for football and his service to his community is the stuff of Champions.  His story has inspired me this season, and it is my hope that you will share this story with your friends and family as your families band together in the Argos community.  Team Spirit stories is proud to support the Make A Wish Foundation this season by donating profits from sales of player DVD’s and Team Spirit Gallery portraits in the name of the Scottsdale Argonauts.
