Argo Seniors Win 2 in Double Header Game Day

Info

Sunrise at Desert Shadows Middle school in Scottsdale brought out the 30 strong Argo Seniors team to face off against two rivals in a back to back double header.   First on the field, the Argos took the Spartans out early in the 4th quarter in a mercy call 46-0.

Not sure what mastermind in the NYS organization decides that it is ok for highly competitive teenagers to play hard core football in two games for three hours straight, but  the extensive endurance training paid off for the Seniors when they held it together long enough to eek out a narrow victory over the Rhinos 26-20 in the last 26 seconds of the 2nd game.

With a 4-0 season record and a growing target on their backs, the Argo Seniors will continue to face an uphill battle where the desire to continue this winning streak will be doubly challenged by the ability to maintain a strict sense of Argo character on the field.  There is no question that this team of High school boys are passionate about winning and playing a hard game of football.  Perhaps it is the overly critical eye i have focused on the boys this Spring that has me watching for things like character, and sportsmanship, but it is apparent early on in this season, that the fundamental spirit of Argo football that has carried the reputation of the club for the past 7 years is being tested across the club from Seniors down to Minors.  More on that in posts to come.
